Detail the bench for impact. Design the customer-side edge for contact rather than for a photograph. That edge is leaned on, struck by bags and boxes, and reached across all day, so it wants a substantial profile with a real radius and full support behind it. Specify a full continuous substrate under the stone, size the supporting structure for the actual load rather than a nominal retail figure, and avoid unsupported cantilevers entirely.
Overhang discipline is where these installations most often fail. A retail plinth is not a kitchen island and staff will absolutely set heavy items on the projecting edge. Keep unsupported projection to a minimum, add concealed steel or a full substrate wherever a projection is required by the design, and where the client insists on a dramatic floating edge, put a properly engineered bracket behind it.
Protect the plinth from the object it displays.
