Alpha® BMP-700 / BMP-714 Brushless Variable Speed Rotary Polisher

The Alpha® BMP-700 is a brushless, professional-grade variable-speed rotary polisher engineered as the next-generation replacement for the legendary VDP-700. At just 4.4 lbs, it pairs a powerful 1,200W brushless motor (1,800W max) with a heavy-duty double-stage precision gear system and built-in speed stabilizer for constant output under load. Six-position variable speed (700–3,000 RPM) with soft-start lets a single tool cover stone, tile, automotive detailing, hardscape, and pool-coping work. Includes both C-handle and side handle. The BMP-714 is the 230V / M14-2 variant for international markets.

Features

  • Brushless 1,200W motor (1,800W maximum) with double-stage gear system
  • Six-position variable speed: 700, 1,200, 1,600, 2,000, 2,500, 3,000 RPM
  • Soft start and built-in speed stabilizer for constant RPM under load
  • Lightweight 4.4 lb body reduces operator fatigue on long jobs
  • Heavy-duty precision gear system for industrial polishing

  1. Mount the appropriate backer pad onto the 5/8"-11 (BMP-700) or M14-2 (BMP-714) spindle using the included spanner wrench.
  2. Attach polishing or sanding disc (up to 9" / 228mm) to the backer pad.
  3. Install either the C-handle or side handle for the most comfortable grip.
  4. Plug into a properly rated outlet — avoid extension cords to prevent voltage drop.
  5. Set the variable-speed dial: low RPM (#1-#2) for wet polishing or aggressive cuts, mid (#3-#4) for general polish, high (#5-#6) for final gloss.
  6. Press the trigger; soft-start ramps the motor smoothly to the selected RPM.
  7. For wet polishing, use the optional Wet Sanding/Polishing Kit and connect water feed.
  8. For heavy edge profiling, Alpha recommends the ECG-900 instead.

Why doesn't the BMP-700 ship with polishing pads or a backer pad?

Alpha serves multiple industries (stone, auto, hardscape, marine) and each prefers different pads. Specialized BMP kits are available with pads matched to your application.

Can the BMP-700 be used for wet polishing?

Yes — with the optional Alpha® Wet Sanding/Polishing Kit, which adds a water feed and splash guard.

Is the BMP-700 good for edge profiling?

It can profile lightly with a wet kit, but for heavy profiling Alpha recommends the ECG-900 Wet High-Speed Grinder.

Why a 25-ft cord instead of allowing extension cords?

Long extension cords cause amperage loss and motor overheating. The 25-ft, 14 AWG cord delivers full rated power to the tool.

How is the BMP-700 different from the VDP-700?

The BMP-700 uses a brushless motor (no carbon brushes to replace), is lighter (4.4 vs 6.4 lbs), and has a tighter RPM range (3,000 max vs 3,500) tuned for polishing rather than profiling.

What is the difference between BMP-700 and BMP-714?

BMP-700 is 120V with a 5/8"-11 spindle (North America). BMP-714 is 230V with an M14-2 spindle (international/EU markets).
