Alpha Ceramica Vitrified

Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified discs have been a staple of the Alpha® Ceramica line for many years. These discs are specifically designed to handle the hard job of removing saw marks and grinding marks in order to prepare the stone for polishing. Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified discs are ideal for the bullnosed or profiled edge, but also work very well on all curved edges. Fabricators love the aggressiveness, ease of use and long life. Tile contractors obtain excellent results on a consistent basis. Monumentalists find Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified very easy to use. The vitrified bond is a compressed diamond impregnated pellet surrounded by plastic. This gives the disc a unique aggressiveness that is needed to remove difficult grinding marks. Only Alpha Professional Tools® offers this advanced style disc. Available in 60, 150 and 300 grits, Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified discs are aggressive and long lasting. Ceramica Vitrified should not exceed 4,000 RPM.

Alpha® recommends central water-feed polishers such as the Alpha® AIR-680 and VSP-320.

Alpha® recommends for tight areas the use of Ceramica Metal discs which have greater flexibility compared to the Vitrified discs.

What are the differences between Vitrified and Metal 150 and 300 grits?

Answer :

Vitrified discs are the most aggressive discs among the four types of bonds available in the Ceramica Family (Vitrified, Metal, Resin and Buff). They are most suited for convex surfaces such as a bullnose edge. Ceramica Metal offers a combination of extra flexibility of resin bond and long life of metal bond. Ceramica Metal is suitable for concave and convex such as ogee edges and internal corners.

Can I use Ceramica Vitrified Dry?

Answer :

No. Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified discs are designed for wet applications only. Ceramica Vitrified discs performs best with wet polishers with central water-feed systems.

Question :

Can I use Ceramica Vitrified 300 grit after the Alpha® Metal 150 grit?

Answer :

Yes. You can mix bond types as long as you follow the grit sequence. Example: Ceramica Metal 60 followed by Ceramica Vitrified 150 Ceramica Metal 150 followed by Ceramica Vitrified 300

Can I use Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified for concrete polishing for breaking the surface of cured concrete?

Answer :

Yes. Ceramica Vitrified can be used on concrete countertops and for breaking the surface when cured concrete needs to be smoothed. Please note due to the abrasive nature of concrete, life of the disc may be short.

Which type of backer pad should I use with Ceramica Vitrified?

Answer :

If you are working on a contoured surface, we recommend using our Flexible Backer pads. If you are working on a flat edge or surface, we recommend using our Rigid Backer pads.
