- Mount the Beveling Auxiliary Base onto a compatible polisher or variable-speed grinder using the matching spindle adapter (5/8"-11, M14, or M16).
- Attach the Carriage Assembly (BAB-CASM) to the Beveling Auxiliary Base.
- Place the appropriate Guide Rail (4', 7', or 12') along the workpiece and secure with surface protection tape (BAB0650) to prevent slab marking.
- Set the bevel angle on the angular measure between 15° and 45° (refer to BAB1590 manual pages 11–13).
- Connect the exterior water-feed line and verify steady flow — the base must be run wet at all times.
- Begin with vacuum-brazed diamond wheels (TSM30060M, TSM30120M) to grind the bevel.
- Step through the Turboshine sequence: #200 Rigid, #500 Rigid, #1000 Flexible, #2000 Flexible, #3000 Flexible, then Buff.
- Move in smooth back-and-forth motion, keeping the rolling wheels in contact with the surface; do not exceed 4,000 RPM.

What materials can the Alpha® Beveling Auxiliary Base be used on?
Granite, quartzite, engineered stone, marble, limestone, porcelain, crystallized glass and concrete slab.
What spindle size is required on the polisher or variable-speed grinder?
The Beveling Auxiliary Base ships with a 5/8"-11 Universal Adapter Assembly. M14 and M16 versions are also available.
Can I use the Beveling Auxiliary Base dry?
No. Precision parts must be kept clean and dust-free; wet application is required at all times.
What is the maximum RPM?
Maximum RPM depends on the polishing abrasive used. The Alpha® Turboshine system has a maximum of 4,000 RPM.
Should I use a polisher or a variable-speed grinder?
Either works. Pneumatic or electric polishers and variable-speed grinders can be used; set RPM accordingly.
What is the largest diameter wheel accepted?
Designed for 3" diameter wheels for best performance; the base accepts up to a 4" pad.
What are the recommended polishing abrasives?
Alpha® Turboshine Rigid wheels.
Does Alpha® Turboshine polish pure white crystallized glass?
Yes. The product is specifically designed to polish without haze.
Can a flexible wheel create a snake-skin effect on engineered stone edges?
Yes. Use TSE32000R after RIGID #500; operate at the lowest RPM without applying pressure.
Do I use Turboshine #100 to grind and create the bevel?
No. Use vacuum-brazed diamond wheels (TSM30060M and TSM30120M) to grind the bevel.
How do I set up the angular measure when grinding?
Refer to the Beveling Auxiliary Base instruction manual, pages 11–13.
What is the correct motion across the material?
A back-and-forth motion, keeping the rolling wheels in contact with the surface at all times.
How fast should I move the unit across the material?
At a speed comfortable for the operator; no specific feed rate is required.
What distance is recommended for the straight edge in seamless applications?
Approximately 5-1/4", varying with Turboshine abrasive height.
What are the major differences between the Seam Phantom and the Beveling Base?
The Beveling Base retrofits an existing polisher; the Seam Phantom is sold with its own designated polisher. The Beveling Base has arms for both square and beveled edges.
How does SFA recommend Turboshine sequencing for countertops?
#200 Rigid, #500 Rigid, #1000 Flexible, #2000 Flexible, #3000 Flexible, then Buff.
