The Alpha® Sonic is a high-quality, general-purpose tile blade engineered for clean, easy and chip-free cutting of ceramic and marble tile. Formulated for long life and balanced performance, it is the best-value wet cutting tile blade in the Alpha line-up. - Match the blade size to the tool: 4" / 4-1/2" on stone cutters or angle grinders; 6"–14" on tub or tile saws.
- Check the directional arrow printed on the front of the blade and install so the diamond bond tails point opposite the direction of rotation.
- For 6"–14" sizes, ALWAYS run with water flowing across the blade — these sizes are wet-cut only.
- For 4" and 4-1/2" sizes, water cooling extends life, but dry use is permitted.
- Keep the tool below the maximum RPM listed for each size (see Specifications).
- If cutting speed slows, the diamonds are glazing — re-dress the blade on a dressing stone or concrete block to re-expose fresh diamonds.
- Let the blade do the work; do not force-feed the tile into the blade.
- Inspect the steel core regularly for cracks or core wear; replace the blade if any damage is found.

Which way do I install the blade on my tool?
The blade direction is printed on the front of the blade — install it so the blade rotates in that direction. If the print is illegible, look for the embossed directional arrow on the back; the diamond bond tails should point opposite the direction of rotation.
What materials can I cut with the Alpha® Sonic blade?
The Alpha® Sonic blade is a general-purpose tile blade for ceramic, marble and slate tile.
Can I use this blade dry?
Only the 4" (TS0478) and 4-1/2" (TS05AL) sizes are approved for dry use on most angle grinders. The 6", 7", 8", 10", 12" and 14" sizes are wet-cut only on tub or tile saws.
Cutting speed has slowed down. What can I do?
The diamonds are glazing or rounding over. Re-dress the blade by running it into a soft abrasive material such as a dressing stone or concrete block to re-expose fresh diamonds.
What is the maximum RPM for each Sonic size?
Maximum RPM ranges from 6,200 RPM (12") up to 14,500 RPM (4"). Refer to the Specifications table for each individual size.
Can I use Sonic tile-saw blades on a portable rail-saw?
No. Sonic tile-saw blades are engineered for tub & tile saws, where material is pushed into the blade. Rail-saws pull the blade into the material, which puts different loads on the steel core.
What are the arbor sizes?
The 4" uses 7/8", 20mm or 5/8" arbors; the 4-1/2" uses 7/8" or 20mm; the 6", 7" and 8" use 5/8"; the 12" uses 1". Refer to the Specifications table for full detail per size.
