Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified Preparation-Stage Discs for Wet Granite Polishing

Alpha® Ceramica Vitrified discs are the aggressive preparation stage of the Ceramica polishing system. A compressed diamond-impregnated pellet in a vitrified plastic bond removes saw and grinding marks fast, protecting the resin discs that follow and extending their life. The discs are ideal for bullnosed and profiled edges, and work very well on all curved edges. Offered in 3", 4", and 5" diameters and #60, #150, and #300 grits — suitable for granite, marble, and porcelain when run wet at 4,000 RPM max.

Features

  • Aggressive preparation stage — removes saw & grinding marks fast

  • Ideal for bullnosed and profiled edges, plus all curved edges
  • Color-coded by grit: Blue (#60), Yellow (#150), Orange (#300)
  • Three diameters: 3", 4", 5"

  1. Mount a backer pad on a central water-feed polisher such as the Alpha® AIR-680 or VSP-320. Use a flexible backer for curves/bullnose, a rigid backer for flat or straight edges.
  2. Start with #60 (Blue) to break the surface and remove saw/grinding marks. For tight inside corners or ogees, switch to a Ceramica Metal disc — vitrified discs work best on convex and broad concave shapes.
  3. Step up to #150 (Yellow) and then #300 (Orange) to bridge into the resin polishing sequence.
  4. Keep center water flowing at all times — Ceramica Vitrified is wet-use only.
  5. Polish at or below 4,000 RPM. Higher speeds will burn the discs.
  6. Hand off to the Ceramica Resin sequence (#150 → #3000), then finish with Ceramica Buff. Bond types can be mixed freely as long as the grit sequence is respected.

What materials can I use Ceramica Vitrified on?

Ceramica Vitrified is designed for all natural stones — granite, marble, and porcelain.

What sizes are available?

Ceramica Vitrified is offered in 3", 4", and 5" diameters.

What does the hook & loop color tell me?

Color codes the grit: Blue = #60, Yellow = #150, Orange = #300.

What is the maximum safe RPM?

Ceramica Vitrified should not exceed 4,000 RPM.

Which polishers does Alpha® recommend?

Central water-feed polishers such as the Alpha® AIR-680 and VSP-320.

What makes Ceramica Vitrified so aggressive?

The compressed diamond-impregnated pellet design exposes fresh diamond as the disc wears, delivering aggressive and long-lasting cutting action.

Can I use Vitrified discs in tight inside curves?

For tight inside areas like internal corners and ogees, use Ceramica Metal discs instead. Vitrified discs are best on convex and broad concave surfaces.

Vitrified vs. Metal — which when?

Vitrified is the most aggressive option and is suited to convex surfaces. Metal offers extra flexibility for concave and convex profiles — especially tight inside curves.

Can I use Ceramica Vitrified dry?

No — Ceramica Vitrified is wet-use only. Always run with center water-feed.

Can I mix Vitrified and Resin in the same sequence?

Yes. Bond types can be mixed freely as long as you respect the grit sequence (low to high).

Can I use Ceramica Vitrified on concrete?

Yes — it works well for breaking the surface of cured concrete that needs smoothing.

Flexible or rigid backer pad?

Flexible backer pads for contoured/curved surfaces; rigid backer pads for flat edges.
