Alpha® Ultracut GPM Series — Vacuum-Brazed Diamond Blade for Metal & Multi-Material Cutting
The Alpha® Ultracut GPM Series is a vacuum-brazed diamond blade built for building contractors and fabricators who cut metal and composite materials. It fits the most common hand-held electric power tools — angle grinders, stone cutters, circular saws and worm-drive saws — and powers through angle iron, pipe, electrical conduit, re-bar, metal stud, structural metal, sheet metal, grid and stainless steel. The vacuum-brazed diamond construction holds its diameter throughout the blade's service life so you keep full cutting depth from the first cut to the last. Offered in seven sizes from 4" through 9" with multi-arbor configurations.

- Choose the correct arbor configuration for your tool (angle grinder, circular saw, worm-drive saw or stone cutter).
- Verify your tool's no-load RPM is at or below the blade's maximum rated RPM (see Models table).
- Mount the blade with the correct flange orientation and torque the arbor nut to the tool manufacturer's spec.
- Wear ANSI-rated safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and a dust mask when cutting dry.
- Allow the blade to reach full RPM before contacting the workpiece; let the diamond grit do the cutting.
- For metals, dry cutting is standard; water may be added to reduce dust and extend blade life when the tool and workpiece allow.
- For granite or porcelain, use a sintered metal-bond blade instead — the GPM is not optimized for those materials.
- Inspect the blade before each use; replace if the core is bent, cracked or out of round.

How long does the Ultracut GPM last?
Alpha publishes that it may last up to 50 to 60 times longer than a standard abrasive cut-off wheel.
Can I use water with the GPM?
Yes. Water reduces dust and improves both performance and blade life when the tool and application allow.
Can the GPM cut granite or porcelain?
Not recommended — sintered metal-bond blades perform better on granite and porcelain. Wet cutting is also recommended for hard stone.
Does the GPM accept the Quad Drive Adapter?
No. For flush cutting on angle grinders with the Quad Drive Adapter, use the Alpha Ultracut APR Series.
Does running the blade in both directions double its life?
No. Reversing rotation extends usable life by exposing fresh diamond, but it does not strictly double the blade's total durability.
Which tools is the GPM compatible with?
Angle grinders, circular saws, worm-drive saws, metal-cutting saws and stone cutters — choose the size with the correct arbor for your tool.
Can I use the GPM with a cordless grinder?
Yes, but Alpha recommends a corded industrial angle grinder at the rated RPM for best performance and blade life.
Is there a 4" GPM for pneumatic saws?
No. The Alpha Ultracut ABM Series is recommended for pneumatic cut-off tools.
