Alpha® Ceramica Buff Wet Granite Final Polishing Pad

Alpha® Ceramica Buff is the final polishing step that transforms a standard polished edge into a deep, glossy mirror finish on natural stone. The hook-and-loop disc combines tin oxide and aluminum oxide powders with natural fiber in a heat-compressed body. With only a small amount of water, friction generates the heat needed to bring out the maximum gloss — no harsh chemicals required. Offered in black for dark granites such as Absolute Black and Black Pearl, and white for lighter granites and some marbles, in 3", 4", and 5" diameters.

  1. Mount a flexible backer pad (Alpha® recommends flexible over rigid — the flex helps the disc heat the stone faster) onto a central water-feed polisher such as the Alpha® AIR-680 or VSP-320.
  2. Press the Ceramica Buff squarely onto the backer’s hook-and-loop face. Use the black buff on dark granites (Absolute Black, Black Pearl) and the white buff on lighter granites and some marbles.
  3. Wet the surface lightly, then turn the water OFF. Ceramica Buff is designed to run with very little water so friction can generate the heat that creates the gloss.
  4. Polish at or below 4,000 RPM with light, even pressure. Do not use on engineered stone — the heat build-up can whiten quartz surfaces.
  5. Work the edge until the deep gloss develops. For flat-area buffing, switch to Alpha® Twistouch Turbo discs instead.
  6. After use, rinse with clean water and air-dry away from heat.

What materials can I use Alpha® Ceramica Buff on?

Ceramica Buff is designed for use on granite and some marbles.

Can I use Ceramica Buff on engineered stone?

No. Ceramica Buff should not be used on engineered (quartz) stone. The heat build-up that creates the gloss can cause whitening on engineered surfaces.

What sizes are offered?

Ceramica Buff is available in 3", 4", and 5" hook-and-loop discs.

What is the maximum RPM?

Ceramica Buff should not exceed 4,000 RPM.

Which polishers does Alpha® recommend?

Alpha® recommends central water-feed polishers such as the Alpha® AIR-680 and VSP-320.

Can I use Ceramica Buff completely dry?

No. Ceramica Buff is designed to run with a small amount of water. Apply water to the surface, then turn the water off so friction creates the heat that brings out the gloss.

Flexible or rigid backer pad?

Alpha® recommends Flexible Backer Pads. The flex helps the disc heat the stone faster.

Can I use Ceramica Buff for flat-area buffing?

For flat-surface buffing, Alpha® recommends Twistouch Turbo discs instead.

What is the difference between Black and White?

Black Buff is designed for dark stones such as Absolute Black and Black Pearl. White Buff is for lighter-colored granites and some marbles.
