Akemi Platinum 5.0 P+ — Premium Epoxyacrylate Knife-Grade Adhesive

AKEMI PLATINUM P+ is a premium, two-component adhesive based on unsaturated epoxyacrylate resins. In its knife-grade form it holds on vertical joints without sagging while bonding and filling natural and artificial stone, quartz, and large-format Techno Ceramic. It hardens fast — ready for grinding, milling, and drilling in as little as 15 to 40 minutes — polishes excellently, and cures to a very light, transparent color with improved protection against yellowing. Strong on stone and on porcelain and sintered slabs, resistant to water, petrol, and mineral oils, and food-contact safe once hardened, it is a professional bonding and lamination adhesive for the modern stone shop.

  • Knife-grade & non-sag — bonds and fills on vertical surfaces
  • Fast hardening — further processable in 15–40 minutes, with excellent surface drying
  • Very light, transparent color with improved protection against yellowing
  • Strong on Techno Ceramic — improved adhesion on porcelain and sintered slabs
  • Durable & polishable — resistant to water, petrol, and mineral oils; food-contact safe after hardening

  • Knife-grade, non-sag consistency for bonding and filling on vertical surfaces
  • Fast hardening (15–40 minutes) with excellent surface drying
  • Excellently polishable
  • Very light, transparent color with improved protection against yellowing
  • Improved adhesion and bonding strength, also on Techno Ceramic (porcelain / sintered slabs)
  • Very good adhesion on natural stone, including at higher temperatures
  • Resistant to water, petrol, and mineral oils
  • When properly applied, the hardened adhesive is classified as harmless to health for food-contact stone and ceramic bondings

Mainly used in the stone-processing industry for:

  • Bonding natural stone, quartz, and ceramics
  • Bonding large-format Techno Ceramic (e.g. Dekton, Lapitec, Neolith, Laminam, Kerlite, Maxfine)
  • Reinforcing (laminating) natural stone slabs with glass-fiber products
  • Forming rock substitutes with crushed rock and sand
  • Flat and vertical bonding and filling applications
  1. Make sure the surface is clean, completely dry, and roughened.
  2. If color is desired, add up to 5% AKEMI Polyester Colouring Pastes / Concentrates or Spectrum Pastes. Knife-grade can be thinned with PLATINUM P+ clear flowing.
  3. Add 1 to 3 g of white hardener paste to 100 g of adhesive (about 4–5 cm of paste from the screw tube equals 1 g).
  4. Mix both components thoroughly. The mixture stays workable for approx. 5–15 minutes at 68°F (20°C), depending on the amount of hardener.
  5. After 15–40 minutes, the parts can be further processed (grinding, milling, drilling). Heat accelerates and cold delays the cure.
  6. Keep bond layers as thin as possible (under 1/32 in / 1 mm) because of shrinkage.
  7. Clean tools with AKEMI Nitro Thinner.
  • Keep the correct hardener ratio: more than 4% reduces adhesion and surface drying; more than 3% causes noticeable yellowing; less than 1% or temperatures below 41°F (5°C) greatly delay hardening.
  • Do not use adhesive that has already thickened or begun to gel.
  • Contains styrene — flammable. Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame.
  • May irritate skin and eyes and cause an allergic skin reaction. Provide good ventilation during mixing and curing.
  • Industrial chemical product — wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Always consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

Industrial chemical product. Contains styrene — flammable; keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Use only in well-ventilated areas and wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protection. Consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (available from the manufacturer or stein.akemi.de) before use. Technical values are manufacturer figures at 68°F (20°C) and may vary with jobsite conditions.
