Alpha® Spike Disc — Coating Removal for Stone, Concrete & Composites
The Alpha® Spike Disc is a diamond-clustered tool that uses multi-layer high-quality diamond grits vacuum-brazed into a clustered layer to remove thick coating materials such as epoxy and urethane on concrete floors quickly — without damaging the surface and eliminating a separate grinding stage. A unique open-mesh diamond layout eliminates clogging and prevents the heat build-up that commonly burns metal surfaces. Spike Disc also works on steel, wood and softer composites such as Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer.

- Confirm grinder/polisher RPM does not exceed the Max RPM for the disc size.
- Mount on a 7/8" flange/lock-nut or thread directly onto a 5/8"-11 spindle (hub versions).
- Pair with Alpha Ecoguard G + HEPA vacuum, or run wet, to control dust.
- Engage the surface at a slight angle for the most aggressive cut; lay flatter for finer removal.
- Restore the cutting edge by briefly grinding a concrete block when sticky materials cause loading.

How long does Spike Disc last vs. conventional abrasives?
Up to 50 to 60 times the life of conventional abrasives, depending on application and definition of end-of-life.
Can it remove sticky mastic or glue?
Yes. Clogging can occur with very sticky materials — briefly grinding a concrete block restores cutting performance.
Can I use water for dust control?
Yes, water can be applied to suppress dust during operation.
How does it compare to polycrystalline diamond cup wheels?
PCD wheels have sharp scrapers that may gouge surfaces or leave scratch marks. Spike Disc avoids that and removes the need for an extra grinding pass.
Best way to eliminate dust?
Alpha offers the Ecoguard G that retrofits to most industrial 4-1/2" and 5" grinders, used with a HEPA vacuum.
Is there a square-arbor version for the Ecogrinder?
Yes — the VCS503Q is available for use with the ECG-125.
What tools can I use it on?
High-speed angle grinders, sanders and polishers using either the original flange/lock-nut (7/8" arbor) or a 5/8"-11 zinc-hub disposable.
