Alpha® Ecoguard CD — Wet/Dry Dust Collection Cover for Core Drilling

The Alpha® Ecoguard Type CD is a wet/dry dust collection shroud built for drilling and core drilling applications. It contains dust and water when drilling with up to a 2-1/2" diameter core bit and secures to horizontal or vertical surfaces using vacuum suction during use. The clear cover prevents splashing in wet applications and fits most standard vacuum dust hoses — a simple, cost-effective dust-removal solution that keeps slurry off the slab and the operator.

  1. Connect the Ecoguard CD to a wet/dry vacuum hose — the suction also holds the cover to the work surface.
  2. Press the rubber lip flat against the drilling surface (horizontal or vertical) until vacuum draw seals it in place.
  3. Pass the core bit through the center port and align with your hole location.
  4. For wet drilling, start the water feed at the bit — the cover contains splash while the vacuum carries off slurry.
  5. For dry drilling, run the vacuum continuously to capture concrete or masonry dust.
  6. Do not use the Ecoguard CD as a stationary water reservoir — the rim holes are vacuum ports, not seals.
  7. After use, disconnect the vacuum, rinse the cover, and let it air-dry before storage.

What is the largest core bit diameter the Ecoguard CD will accept?

Up to 2-1/2" diameter core bits.

Can I use the Ecoguard CD as a water reservoir for wet drilling?

No. The bottom edge has multiple holes for vacuum suction, so it cannot hold standing water. Use it with a running wet/dry vacuum and a water feed at the bit.

Can it double as a drilling guide?

No. The side protection segment will grind against the surface and damage the rubber if used as a guide.

What materials can I drill with the Ecoguard CD attached?

Concrete, stone and masonry primarily — plus wood, drywall, composites and similar materials.

Is it safe for steel drilling?

It may work for occasional steel use, but hot metal debris can damage the cover. Not recommended for routine metal applications.

Does the Ecoguard CD include a vacuum hose?

No. It connects to your existing wet/dry vacuum hose and fits most popular dust hoses.
