Makita® XST01Z 18V LXT® Oil-Impulse™ Brushless Cordless 3-Speed Impact Driver (Tool Only)
The Makita® XST01Z is an 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion brushless impact driver built around Oil-Impulse™ technology, which uses oil to hydraulically drive the impact mechanism instead of a conventional steel hammer-and-anvil. Makita rates the design at up to 30% lower noise for quieter operation, and the BL™ Brushless Motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer tool life. A 3-speed power selector plus Quick-Shift Mode™ lets the driver ease off just before the fastener seats, reducing thread stripping, screw breakage and damage to the work surface. At 5-3/8" long and 3.2 lbs. with a battery, it reaches into tight spaces without wearing out the operator. Sold as a bare tool — battery and charger are not included.

- Insert a charged 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion battery until it clicks into place.
- Fit a 1/4" hex shank driver bit into the chuck and confirm it is seated and locked.
- Set the forward / reverse lever to the required direction; the center position locks the trigger for safe transport and bit changes.
- Press the speed-selection button to choose the impact power stage — low for small or delicate fasteners, medium for general work, high for long or large-diameter screws.
- Engage Quick-Shift Mode™ when driving self-drilling or fine-thread screws so the driver eases off before the head seats.
- Hold the tool square to the fastener and squeeze the trigger progressively; trigger travel controls speed.
- Check the 3-stage L.E.D. gauge for remaining battery charge and swap the battery before it runs flat.
- Read the Makita instruction manual in full before first use and follow all safety instructions.

Does the XST01Z include a battery or charger?
No. XST01Z is the bare tool. Batteries and chargers are sold separately. The XST01M kit version includes two 4.0Ah batteries, a charger and a case.
What does Oil-Impulse™ actually change?

Which batteries fit this driver?

What is Quick-Shift Mode™ for?
An electronic controller downshifts rotation and impact speed just before the screw seats. It is intended to reduce stripped threads, snapped screw heads and damage to the work surface, which matters on finish work and self-drilling fasteners.
Can it take 1/4" hex socket adapters?
Yes. The 1/4" hex chuck accepts standard 1/4" hex shank bits and impact-rated socket adapters.
