Alpha® Felt Wheels for Polishing Powders, Pastes & Bars

The Alpha® Felt Wheel is a very popular material for the final buff process in stone fabrication. These hook and loop backed buffing wheels work with polishing powders, pastes, or bars to bring out a deep glossy finish on marble and delicate granite edges such as ogees and bullnoses. Available in 3", 4", 5", and 7" diameters at 1/4" thickness.

  1. Mount onto a compatible Alpha® hook & loop backer pad.
  2. Use with hand-held tools such as the Alpha® AIR-680 or VSP-320, radial-arm polishers, or the Makita GV5000.
  3. Operate at speeds below 4,000 RPM — never exceed this limit.
  4. Apply Alpha® polishing powders, pastes, or bars to the workpiece, then buff with even pressure to achieve a deep glossy finish.
  5. Keep the surface lightly moist when using powders; reapply compound as needed.
  6. Inspect the felt face between uses and replace once worn or saturated.

What tools are these wheels designed for?

Hand-held polishers such as the Alpha® AIR-680 and VSP-320, radial-arm polishers, and Makita GV5000 units.

Can I use a high-speed angle grinder?

Only if it is variable speed and can run below 4,000 RPM. Felt wheels must never exceed 4,000 RPM.

How are the wheels secured?

Alpha® backer pads use hook & loop material that grips the wheel’s loop backing so it stays centered during polishing.

What is the thickness of the wheel?

All Alpha® Felt Wheels are 1/4" (6 mm) thick.

Which materials can I polish with felt wheels?

Marble, granite, and engineered stone — ideal for final buff on ogees, bullnoses, and other delicate edges.
