What kind of compressor do I need for the PSC-150?
The PSC-150 can consume up to 32-48 CFM at full torque, so a 5 HP two-stage garage compressor will not keep up. Plan on an industrial rotary screw compressor (minimum 7.5 HP) sized for maximum torque applications.
Can the PSC-600 be used as a grinder?
Yes. Swap the inner flange from the cutting version to the grinding version so all water is directed to the grinding edge. Grinding wheels require the 7/8" straight arbor — not 5/8"-11.
Can I use the PSC at the jobsite?
Yes. As long as you have the required compressed air available, you can run the PSC-150 or PSC-600 on the jobsite. Diesel-engine air compressors built for jackhammers typically deliver enough capacity.
Can I use the PSC as a dry stone cutter?
Yes, but Alpha® recommends wet cutting to keep dust down and reduce silica exposure. If you cut dry, pair the tool with a HEPA dust-collection system per OSHA Table 1.
What maintenance does the PSC need?
Add a few drops of AIR-008 rust inhibitor oil at the designated oil port at the end of every shift and slowly introduce air pressure to lubricate the motor. Periodically clean or change the muffler to keep noise down.
Why does the PSC-150 list both CFM and SCFM?
The PSC-150 has a torque-sensing speed governor in the motor that regulates air consumption based on the load. At no load it draws only 4.6 CFM; under heavy cutting the governor opens up to 32.8 CFM at the 2.0 HP maximum.
How do I get the parts list or schematic?
Visit alpha-tools.com or call 800-648-7229 to request the parts list and schematic for either model.
