Alpha 5" Snail Lock Adapter — 5/8"-11 (SFAT-5/8)

The Alpha® SFAT-5/8 is a 5" Snail Lock adapter with 5/8"-11 threads, designed to mount Snail Lock polishing wheels (Twincur EB, Twincur ES, Twincur GEM, Antique Brush, and other Alpha Snail Lock abrasives) onto standard hand-held angle grinders and polishers. The hook & loop backed face accepts any 5" Snail Lock wheel — twist on to lock, twist off to release — so grits can be changed in seconds without tools.

  1. Confirm your grinder/polisher has a 5/8"-11 male spindle and a maximum no-load speed at or below 2,000 RPM.
  2. Thread the SFAT-5/8 adapter onto the spindle by hand until snug; tighten lightly with the supplied spanner if needed.
  3. Align the Snail Lock wheel to the adapter face and twist clockwise until it locks into position.
  4. Run the tool at the wheel manufacturer's recommended RPM (typically 900–2,000 RPM for 5" Twincur EB wheels).
  5. To change grits, stop the tool, twist the wheel counter-clockwise to release, and snap on the next grit.
  6. Inspect the adapter and hook & loop face periodically; replace if the locking lugs or pile face show wear.

What wheels does the SFAT-5/8 accept?

Any 5" Alpha® Snail Lock-base wheel — Twincur EB, Twincur ES, Twincur GEM, Antique Brush, and other Snail Lock-compatible abrasives.

What is the maximum safe RPM?

The adapter is rated for a maximum of 2,000 RPM. Always honor the lower of the adapter and the wheel's rated speed.

Will it fit my grinder?

It fits any tool with a 5/8"-11 male spindle (the US standard for 4"–9" angle grinders and most variable-speed polishers).

Wet or dry use?

The adapter itself can run wet or dry. Follow the wet/dry guidance of the wheel mounted on it.

How do I change wheels?
