Akemi Marble Silicone — Transparent (310 mL)
AKEMI® Marble Silicone is a single-component, neutral-curing (oxime) joint-sealing silicone that hardens on contact with atmospheric moisture. Formulated for natural and engineered stone, it does not discolour at the joint edges — avoiding the oily rims that ordinary silicones can leave on marble. It stays elastic, tolerates joint movement up to 20%, and is fungicidal, weather-resistant, and highly resistant to abrasion, tearing, and notching. The transparent grade suits expansion and connecting joints on marble, granite, quartzite, sandstone, terrazzo, concrete, and more.
- No edge discolouration — won’t leave oily rims on stone
- Neutral (oxime) cure — single-component, moisture-curing
- Flexible — tolerates joint expansion/contraction up to 20%
- Fungicidal & weather-resistant, with high abrasion and tear resistance
- Wide adhesion — stone, ceramic, glass, wood, many metals and plastics

A sealing material for expansion and connecting joints, for use with natural and artificial stone such as marble, granite, quartzite, sandstone, terrazzo, and concrete. It also adheres very well to plaster, ceramic, glass, wood, and many kinds of metal and plastic.
Not suitable for: plastics containing softening agents, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and PTFE (Teflon), where adhesion is poor or absent. Fungicide-containing silicones must not be used in the construction of aquariums.
- Contact surfaces must be dry, clean, and free of grease and dust; clean stone, ceramic, glass, unpainted wood, and metal with AKEMI® Cleaner A (Cleaner I on plastic and enamel).
- For deeper joints, use AKEMI® joint cords to prevent three-flank adhesion. Minimum joint size 3 x 5 mm (approx. 1/8 x 3/16 in).
- Mask the areas flanking the joint with AKEMI® adhesive masking tape.
- Work at 41–95°F (5–35°C); use primer on the joint flanks where required (wet/humid areas, outdoors, specific substrates).
- After application, smooth the silicone within 5–10 minutes (AKEMI® smoothing agent gives the best result).
- Remove the masking tape in the direction of the joint before a skin forms. Cure proceeds at approx. 1–3 mm per 24 hours.
- Clean tools with AKEMI® Cleaner A.
- Discolouration can occur over substrates coated with tar or bitumen, and over elastomers such as EPDM or neoprene — test compatibility first.
- Test compatibility before use on painted or lacquered surfaces; remove excess smoothing agent to avoid staining.
- Do not use fungicide-containing sealant in aquarium construction.
- Hardened sealant can only be removed mechanically; the cured sealant presents no danger to health.
- Use with adequate ventilation and wear gloves and eye protection. Consult the AKEMI Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.
